Since ancient times, the spiritual world has been associated with metallic resonances. It is said that in the Middle Ages, night watchmen carried bells as spiritual weapons to ward off the dark souls that dwell in the air. At that time, also, the deceased were guided to the afterlife with the sounds of bells, pots or any metallic object. This is why bells are still rung in churches as a way of warning evil spirits that they are not welcome.

Metallic sounds have not been the only ones associated with the threshold between the world of the living and the dead. Infrasound (sounds below the threshold of human hearing) has also been a field of study, relating sounds and spirits, or let's say... ghosts. During the 80's, Professor Vic Tandy, unmasked a ghostly entity in his laboratory that had his collaborators terrified, after understanding that the visions of him and his colleagues had been caused by the recent installation of an air conditioning system that emitted infrasound, specifically 19 Hz, a frequency imperceptible to the human ear, but that at high pressure levels can cause the sensation of apparitions in the peripheral vision, a feeling of being watched and pressure in the chest.
