THE ESPLANADES ON WHICH WE DANCE ARE HORIZONTAL AND THAT IS HOW WE ASPIRE TO MAKE
OUR RELATIONSHIPS.

Piece in collaboration with the Sinaloan band La Otra Banda and Yutindudi.

3 texts were written in which we reflect on how sound affects us, exploring social coexistence from an auditory perspective.

Through a reading, we addressed the events that took place in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, in 2024, where, after complaints from foreign tourists, traditional bands were banned from playing on the beach, silencing a deeply rooted cultural tradition.

The piece was activated at the Material art fair in the city of Guadalajara.

English translation

George Steiner says that identical music can inspire and articulate irreconcilable proposals, and gives as an example a Beethoven melody that inspired equally the communist pledge, the United Nations anthem and Nazi solidarity. It is through ambiguous intent that music can articulate a sense of community, even when we believe ourselves to be distant.
'ab 'al, K'umal as the Tojolabales say, word spoken, word heard. Let us integrate the I into the we, let us join together in the cosmic ring of the nosotropic.

We know that in the future, it will be possible to listen to that tree fall. That is why we are in search of that listening that amplifies, that resuscitates, that gives permanence.

Music only exists when someone listens to it.
